Hello world!

Home > Races >

Emerging from the deepest, most ancient groves and untamed wilds, the mandragora are a diminutive, plant-like race whose bodies resemble animated root bulbs, crowned with vibrant foliage that shifts with the seasons. Their limbs are gnarled branches, and their faces often bear the distinct, wide-eyed look of startled creatures. Famed—and sometimes feared—for the unsettling, high-pitched wail they can unleash when distressed or provoked, this “Mandragora Scream” is more than just a cry; it’s a concussive burst of primal nature magic that can disorient or even paralyze those unprepared. Deeply attuned to the Lifestream and the natural world, the mandragora are often reclusive, finding solace in thick forests, forgotten glades, or subterranean caverns rich with nutrients. They possess an innate wisdom about flora, fauna, and the subtle energies that flow through the land, making them natural stewards and potent primal spellcasters. Despite their initial shyness, those who earn a mandragora’s trust will find a fiercely loyal, if sometimes skittish, companion, eager to protect the delicate balance of their world from encroaching civilization or destructive forces. The enigmatic mandragora were first observed in the aftermath of the Seventh Umbral Era. It is not known whence they came, or if they even existed prior to the Calamity. They resemble a small, wide-mouthed fat child made from leaves, vines, tree bark, dirt, and pallid tubers.
